With a twist on phrases and a spin on words...Tellin the things he thought should be heard.

Hocus Pocus Diddeli Docus...caught our attention and made us focus on laughter, the fun things in life. If something was wrong he’d make it alright....Tamra Lockard

Pa said stuff in a way that totally changed the word or he phrased stuff in a neat manner.  Here are some examples:

"Ip-tick" ... for lipstick

"What'n the thunder!"...when he was really mad.

"What'n all's goin on here'n all?"...when he was asking what was up.

"Bog"...for dog

"San-ich"...for sandwich

"Hi -do...Hi - do!"...saying hello really fancy being silly

"Delaripin"...for delicious

"Bootiful"...for beautiful

"Quiled up"...for curled up

"Goin' to Toleda"...meant really taking a trip

"I'd hate to get old!"  He was always saying this to me with a mischevious smile on his face and in his eyes.

When I was a teenager, the word "retarded" was the going thing to say for a time (although it was meant as innocent childish fun, it now seems quite harsh).  Just to fit in with us my grandpa would jump in a conversation and say that something was "retarded" and we would laugh.  One time I remember saying "Nasty!" about something I obviously thought was gross.  He got really tickled at this one and began saying it too anytime he really wanted to get a laugh.  It was extremely funny to hear your grandpa say that a certain outfit someone wore or a meal was "nasty"!

"Hoot-gun" for shotgun

"Can't spleak splain for splutterin"

"Yameehaw" for Yamaha

"Pitha, pitha!"  for the Little Caesar's Pizza Pizza commercial.

"Cathish" for Catfish

"Househoos" for Houseshoes  He would ask; "You got some new hoos? or he would say "Gotta go get my hoos on."

"Halkeehal" for Alcohol

"Drandaddy" for Grandaddy

"Haint" for Ghost

"Skurell" for Squirrel

"Billpold" for Billfold

"Awful" for Awful
